Located on the western side of the Okavango Delta in a private concession Pom Pom camp is a down-to-earth water based camp that allows you to experience the magic of the delta at an affordable rate.

The camp has a really relaxed atmosphere with a homely feel. The décor is simple but very comfortable. You can’t beat its location with the main camp area and fireplace right at the water’s edge.
The guides are seriously friendly and also extremely passionate about their wildlife which is the focus of the camp. Don’t be surprised to find them tracking lion and leopard off road for you before you relax with a sunset gin and tonic.
Pom Pom has nine luxury en-suite safari tents overlooking the Pom lagoon and under the shade of the trees. Each tent is furnished with all the touches that you need in the bush! The shower is also semi-open allowing you to experience a bush shower before supper. One of these tents is a family unit with an adjoining tent for your children.
Pom Pom is blessed with its position within the delta and has an amazing amount of game in the area. You can go in search of some of the resident prides of lion or leopards with your guide and tracker by 4×4 Land rover, relax as you are taken on a blissfully silent trip along the maize of hidden waterways in a mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) or venture into the bush on foot with an experienced guide. You can also try your hand at fishing depending on the season.
Pom Pom is located on Pom Pom island on the head waters of theXudum river system which lies on the western boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve. It can be reached by charter flight from Maun or Kasane. Air Botswana operates daily flights to Maun from Johannesburg. It is also possible to fly to Maun via Victoria Falls or Windhoek. It would be great to combine a few nights at Pom Pom, which is a water based camp, with a land camp elsewhere in the delta or with a few nights in the Central Kalahari or Savute Channel.
Pom Pom Camp is open year round. November to February is the hot and rainy season with green vegetation which is visually stunning but makes game viewing more difficult as the bush is thick.
It also sees the birth of new born which brings a very interesting dynamic to the delta with an increase in predator activity. It is also a time when a huge number of birds migrate into the area. This period of the year is also the most affordable as it is less popular.
The rain up in Angola usually reaches the delta in March or April which is a fascinating period as the rising water levels completely transforms the area. July to mid October is the peak season as temperatures are cooler, the weather is dry and the lack of rain brings the animals to known water holes making game viewing much better.
