From the moment you step into Derwent House you notice the incredibly wonderful atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and approachable and so many small personal touches make you feel very welcome. Treats such as afternoon tea and cake, incredibly good advice on day trips, as well as the absolutely scrumptious breakfasts make this place a great base from which to explore Cape Town.
Derwent House is fantastically situated at the base of Table Mountain in central Cape Town. The cable station to the top of Table Mountain is about a five minute drive away with the V&A Waterfront and beaches being about a ten minute drive. The vibrant Kloof and Long Streets are just on your doorstep with their constantly buzzing bars, restaurants and boutique stores.
The best part of Derwent House however is the welcoming atmosphere and relaxed environment provided by the staff. Jo and Carol have an amazing relationship with everyone and run the place with true passion. Derwent House definitely deserves it’s many service awards from Trip Advisor, most recently in the 2011 Travellers Choice Awards where it was a winner for Best Service category.
