Wine Tasting
Definitely one of the more fun things I’ve done down in Cape Town, heading out to the Stellenbosch and Franschoek wine regions was as much fun as it was beautiful and educational. There’s nothing better than gulping down delicious selections of wine all day long, all the while having the guise of sophistication to lean against.
As part of a special customised Pepper tour, we had a whole day of wine farms and spectacular scenery to enjoy. In all we visited 5 different wine farms and enjoyed a delicious lunch at one and enjoyed some fantastic cheese tasting at another. I’be have done quite a lot of wine tasting in Europe and I have to admit that the South African wine selection I was exposed to were right on par with the best I’ve had in Europe. All the wine farms had informative and friendly staff, and the Pepper tour was definitely a great way to go about it, combining a ton of fun splashed with culture. Apart from the wines themselves, the scenery around the wine regions is really worth seeing and provides a very different feeling from the comparative hustle and bustle of Cape Town. The history of wine making in South Africa I also found pretty interesting (which surprised me to be honest), although I think most of it was forgotten by the end of the day...
