Our Top 5 South African Beaches

LlandudnoCoffee BayRobbergJBMuisbosskerm1. Llandudno Beach in Cape Town.
There aren't many cities in the world that can boast some of the worlds best beaches within a buzzing city. Cape Town can. There are so many stunning beaches around Cape Town that we could easily fill a much longer list with them. However at a push Llandudno has to be our favourite. The combination of clear blue water, white sand and some of the most amazing sunsets you will every see make this our top Cape Town beach.

2. Coffee Bay in the Transkei
Coffee Bay in the heart of the Transkei on South Africa's east coast is not an easy to reach destination. However those who make the effort are rewarded with some of the most unspoilt coastline in the country. This is a place that can seem untouched by time. Cows, horses and local fishermen are a common site along the beaches and the hills are dotted with traditional round huts or rondavels. Truly a place to unwind and forget about reality for a while!

3. Robberg Beach in Plettenberg Bay
The Garden Route gets a lot of PR and for many it's a must visit area of the country. One of the reasons for this is that it can claim miles and miles of stunning coastline. While there are many remote and untouched beaches along the Garden Route, Robberg Beach in the holiday town of Plettenberg Bay is one of our favourites. It boasts a stunning 4 km stretch of sand which ends in the beautiful Robberg peninsula, a protected conservation area.

4. Jeffreys Bay
Jeffreys Bay near Port Eizabeth is most well known as having one of the best surfing waves in the world. In the middle of every year, the world's top surfers converge on Jbay for one of the legs of the World Surfing Tour. Apart from the surf community, the town itself is fairly sleepy and not the prettiest place in the country. But the coastline is beautiful and it is worth visiting just for the mile and miles of white sand. The combination of beautiful beaches, stunning sunrises and the local red tipped aloes make this any photographers dream destination!

5. Muisbosskerm near Lamberts Bay
Muisbosskerm is not a beach, it is an incredible, absolutely must visit outdoor restaurant in the middle of nowhere on the west coast about 4 hours from Cape Town. The restaurant is however situated on an untouched stretch of rugged west coast beauty and the sunsets and peace of this area put it up there in our top 5!
