Elephant Back Safari at Camp Jabulani in South Africa
Camp Jabulani is home to unforgettable elephant back safari’s and is an extraordinary sanctuary not only for its guests but for the adopted elephants that have been saved from dire circumstances. The camp is filled with a friendly atmosphere and you get an incredible sense of true appreciation of the environment yet at the same time you have every possible luxury and comfort you could dream of. The history, daily activities and passion surrounding Camp Jabulani all revolves around the resident trained herd of elephants, all of whom were rescued from near death conditions by the
Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre. The camp was created to support these vulnerable creatures as well as to share the incredible experience of interacting with elephants with the rest of the world.
Accommodation:
Camp Jabulani consists of six indulgent and secluded luxury suites. They are characterised by huge wooden sliding doors that open out onto a private deck. During the day this is fantastic as can really draw the incredible surrounding wilderness in yet in the evenings the soft lighting, cosy fireplace and romantic mosquito drapes add warmth and comfort. Each room has a huge tub to soak in as well as an outdoor shower and private plunge pool.
For guests wanting a completely exclusive and more tailored retreat there is Zindoga Villa which is a completely self contained villa that allows for a luxurious home away from home feel. The villa consists of two
huge en suite units adjoined by a beautiful lounge and dining area. Each unit has its own expansive wooden deck with plunge pool. One of the units has an additional twin room perfect for families. This room is connected to the bedroom with an inter-leading door.
Activities:
The highlight of Camp Jabulani is of course its famous elephant back safari’s. The sheer size yet calm and pristine presence makes any interaction with the elephants absolutely humbling. The entire journey atop the elephant is completely serene, from the side to side rocking f each step to the incredible views you get at such height, it is an absolutely fantastic experience. Camp Jabulani also offers the only night elephant back safari in the world allowing you to experience the complete silence and magic of the African bush under the stars.
As well as the unique elephant back
safari’s there are also daily game drives on open 4 x 4 vehicles. Hot air balloon rides are also available for a different perspective of the landscape.
For guests who just want to relax there is an onsite therapy room which offers everything from massage to hand and foot treatments.
