When to go:

The Cederberg experience’s the same seasonal climate as Cape Town yet due to its altitude it experiences much colder winters. During the months of June and July there are often light snow falls and access to the reserve can be restricted. For all the flower lovers, the best time would definitely be the months of August to October when you can witness the entire landscape in full bloom. From October through to April are the warm summer months which provide a perfect climate to relax and completely enjoy the natural surroundings and warm colours of this semi-arid region.

If there weather permits there is the option of sleeping outdoors on an outcrop of rock that allows you to truly take in your surroundings. This is the ultimate opportunity at for stargazing and getting lost in the milky way. The Bushmen Lodge provides more suitable accommodation for the colder winter months with thatched rondavels and cave suites which are built into the majestic rock formations.

Kagga Kamma provides opportunities to take walks out to see the ancient rock paintings and explore the unique rock formations that make up the Kagga Kamma outcrop. There are also 4x4 and quad bike safari’s for the more adventurous, and then if you are just looking to soak up the surroundings and relax, there is an onsite spa, swimming pool and an authentic open air boma restaurant.
