If it’s off-the-beaten-track you’re after, this is it...welcome to The Skeleton Coast.
The northern half of the Namibian coastline is one of the few remaining true wilderness areas on our planet and it is breathtakingly beautiful. So-called because of the many shipwrecks that have littered the beaches over the years, The Skeleton Coast also bears witness to huge whale bones and enormous seal colonies and inland there’s elusive desert elephant to track down as well as many desert-adapted antelope.
Because of the enormity of the area and harshness of the landscape, the best way to experience it is by plane. Flying at “see-level” you’ll cross ancient rock formations, wide open plains dotted with zebra and oryx and look down on ghostly shipwrecks buried in the sand where the desert meets the sea.

These guys are the pioneers of tourism in this remote part of the world. Louw Schoeman introduced tourists to The Skeleton Coast soon after he had been a major influence in the proclamation of the area’s National Park in 1971. Since then, his four sons who grew up discovering the hidden wonders of this place have continued his legacy in the shape of these flying safaris. There’s no one better equipped to fly you from one isolated airstrip to the next, sharing their wealth of knowledge from the geological history to the area’s most enchanting flora and fauna.
The journey starts and finishes in Namibia’s capital city, Windhoek. Meeting at Eros Airport you’ll be flying in light aircraft all over the Skeleton Coast, from the Namib Desert in the south to the Kunene River at the border with Angola in the north.
Absolutely everything is taken care of to meet your every need. Staying at a different permanent camp each night, you’ll be treated to three course meals under the stars, there’s a never-ending bar at each camp and telescopes to scour the starlit skies and see those red giants up close.
Your trip can be three nights, each in a different section of the area, or why not extend it? Get in touch with us to tailor your own personal itinerary. Whichever route you choose, you’re sure to see some of the best landscapes the entire continent has to offer and you’ll be doing it all with the guides for whom this is home, imagine.
